SEND
At Miss Delaney’s we strive to support all children as individuals. On occasion, we find that children require additional support in some areas. We provide open communication at these times between home and school to create a consistent and helpful programme for parents and teachers. Early intervention is critical to helping your child succeed as they make their first steps towards their school journey.
We aim to combine the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities SEND Code of Practice (2014) with our own care, patience, best practice and our on-site Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) to support children when additional needs are identified.
Our system of observation and record keeping helps us to monitor children’s needs and progress on an individual basis. All information is shared with parents before further action is taken as we strive to have a great partnership between parents and teachers. Routes may be taken to provide further support. These include the process of crafting an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to be acted upon in school. If further steps need to be taken in ensuring on-going support we have experience in applying for and working with Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and will work closely with families, the local authority and any health care specialists as required.
