Welcome

A very warm welcome to Miss Delaney’s Nursery School. We believe that all children deserve an education rich in wonder and memorable experiences that allows children's natural creativity and curiosity to flourish, alongside the purposeful acquisition of skills and knowledge.

Our Aims

Our main aim is to provide a happy, calm, secure, stimulating environment in which each child’s early stage of learning is an exciting process, making that ‘first bridge’ between home and school a natural progression.

A child’s natural desire is to learn and explore and we positively encourage our children to develop their curiosity through creative work and play. We also teach our children by example, to be kind and helpful and to learn to share and work alongside their peers. With our guidance, the children start to gain in confidence, develop their concentration, resilience and a little self-discipline. Above all, the children will discover that learning is rewarding and enjoyable, not to mention good fun!

Our Nursery

Miss Delaney’s is a teacher led Nursery, staff are professional and highly motivated individuals who strive to provide the best possible outcomes for all children in the setting. We provide high quality nursery education, Monday to Friday during term time from 9am to 3pm, with extended provision between the hours of 8.30am - 4pm with a variety of clubs.

Our Nursery is comprised of two sites very close to each other, just a two minute walk apart:

Avondale Park Lodge

Avondale is a beautiful converted house located next to Avondale Park with its own secluded garden and outdoor classroom; the garden is used by all children daily.

The children are divided into two ‘year groups’. We have two Duckling classrooms on the ground floor for children between the ages of 2-3 years for quieter focused activity times and two Duck classes situated on the first floor with an additional library space for our children between 3+ to rising 5 years of age.

Kenley Walk

Kenley is a very light and airy open-plan hall, just 2 minutes’ walk from Avondale.

Our Duckling group use this space as their main learning environment for child led learning. Smaller groups are taken to use the classrooms at Avondale Park Lodge daily for quieter, focus teaching times.

Our buildings are thoughtfully organised so that a wide range of activities stimulate the children to learn both through work and play.

We are a small school for local families and we care about the whole family, not just the children. It is our intention to provide an enriched, well rounded and stimulating learning environment where children and adults have mutual respect for each other so children are able to develop:

Confidence in their ability to learn
The social skills necessary to learn
The emotional capabilities to enable them to understand their feelings and to solve problems

Every day is packed with purposeful play and our nursery children experience the thrill of discovering. It is such a joy to see the children’s smiles each morning when we open the gate to greet them.
